At Joy Accounting we care about the environment and strive to recycle as much as possible.  But we can go one step further than just being conscientious about recycling and that’s by not producing the waste material in the first place.

Paperless offices have been around for decades.  But implementing a paperless office in an environment that has been operating for a long time can be challenging.

But a brand new office . . . now that’s a much easier place to incorporate a paperless model.  Knowing that each office worker is estimated by the EPA to generate two pounds of paper per day, we made the decision to be as paperless as possible.  Most of the paperless-ness will be on our end, but if you want to get in on the action, we will be offering pdf versions of your tax returns, your original documents, and our invoice.  For those of you who are not quite ready to take the plunge, no worries, we will provide you with a paper copy.

While we are trying to create something different than the “norm” we also realize that we can’t veer too far from the traditional work performed by accountants.  We are highly trained in Individual, Business (corporate, partnership, and LLCs), Estate and Trust income tax preparation.  We can also assist with payroll, Quickbooks and business valuations.  

Lastly, if you need financial statements prepared we can provide a compiled or reviewed financial statements for you to use internally or to give to external users.

Joy Accounting highly values education and empowering people to handle their own financial affairs.  We often meet new clients who are interested in preparing their own income taxes but are too intimidated to try it on their own. 

We have developed a small group tax workshop where taxpayers bring their tax documents, sit at our computers, use our software, and prepare their own federal, state, and city income tax returns with training, guidance, and support from an on-site CPA.  Attendees will e-file their taxes and leave with a confirmation number and copy of your completed tax returns.

While we are trying to create something different than the “norm” we also realize that we can’t veer too far from the traditThroughout the year, we will be hosting a series of workshops to teach about personal finance issues as well as financial management for small businesses.  These small group workshops will be held over several weeks giving attendees an opportunity to use what they learn during the week, bring back thoughts on what worked and what didn’t and get timely feedback from a financial expert.  Each series will include a workbook to take notes and track progress.

Workshops include topics such as:

• Money Management Strategies: money habits, how to determine your net worth, creating and implementing a budget.
• Consumer Purchasing Strategies: effective consumer buying, impulse buying, brand comparison, warranties, car buying vs. leasing, consumer frauds and scams.
